Carson City Fifth Graders Set to Sing at Tree Lighting Event

Fifth graders from all six public elementary schools as well as Carson Montessori, Bethlehem Lutheran and Saint Teresa’s will perform as a unified holiday choir for the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights on the Capitol steps in downtown Carson City Friday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m.

Comprehensive Life Skills students at Carson High School got into the spirit of Thanksgiving and celebrated being thankful for friends and family last week by helping prepare a Thanksgiving meal for fellow students and staff. With the assistance of some parents and educators, students learned life skills like cooking, place setting and cleaning.

Senior Spotlight: Carson High’s Stefany Rugama Plans to Major in Biomedical Science

Stefany was recently awarded her third academic letter for maintaining a 4.49 overall GPA. Stefany consistently took challenging classes throughout high school, including several honors and AP classes as well as working toward the completion of the Health Science Career and Technical Education pathway. She is currently taking an EMT class, which may allow her to become a certified EMT by the end of the school year.

Canned Food Drives in Schools Help Model Generosity and Caring

Today’s rising generation can increase their intelligence and learn academically from books and curriculum, but they truly only become beneficial, contributing members of society when they learn the value of charity. Students in the Carson City School District demonstrated and learned the power of generosity during the 2022 Canned Food Drive for Friends in Service Helping (FISH). In total, nearly 10,000 food items were collected from schools and donated to those in need.

Normally known for his athletic prowess, Carson High School Senior Parker Story earned a silver placement for Dairy Handling at the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Competition in Indianapolis, Ind. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.

06-15-17 Pedaling Books During Summer School
The Carson City Library’s Pedal Library will be busy delivering books to students attending summer school. Now through the end of June, the teardrop trailer pulled behind a bike will provide up to 60 pounds of books at each elementary school within the Carson City School District. The mobile library will be offering mobile wifi and charging station soon.
