This month’s senior spotlight is excited to pass on her love of learning. Tatrianna McDonnell has excelled at Pioneer Academy over the last couple of years and is planning to share her love of learning by becoming a secondary teacher and help other students reach their potential. Last year Tatrianna decided she wanted to teach, and with the support and encouragement from family and teachers, she has developed the skills and discipline to reach her goal. She credits her teachers like Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Walker for helping her stay positive and showing her the joys of teaching and creating positive and engaging classrooms. She also credits her sister for much of her success for teaching her so many life-skills school didn’t provide.

Like so many students today, Tatrianna found that social anxiety was preventing her from reaching her true potential. It caused her to become easily overwhelmed and put off her school responsibilities. Tatrianna says Pioneer’s smaller size created a more manageable pace for her to stay on top of things. She worked on personal goals and setting deadlines to push through her anxiety and find academic success.

In addition to staying busy maintaining high grades, Tatrianna also spends her time learning new techniques painting with acrylics and watercolors. She says working on her art is soothing and has helped her learn to relax more. She also enjoys bullet journaling, which she says helps her stay more organized.

Pioneer faculty and staff are proud of what Tatrianna has accomplished the last couple of years, and we are excited to see her pursue a career in education.
