What We Do…In A Nutshell

As a result of the generosity of individuals, businesses and foundations in our community, we provide funding for programs and projects within the Carson City School District that enhance student educational experiences that otherwise are not fundable through the traditional education budget. Here’s another way of looking at it (click here).

A Little History…

In 2015 a group of individuals from the community came together to form a 501(c)3 foundation to support the Carson City School District’s goal of increasing student achievement through community philanthropic investment and involvement. Serving at the pleasure of the superintendent and the school board, The Carson City Schools Foundation leadership works to be a vehicle for community investment in education that traditional funding sources might not be able to reach.

As a result of the community’s generosity, from 2016 through 2023 the foundation has donated $146,000 for classroom projects, student aid, department projects, school projects, new teacher support, and the Jump Start Program. As of the Fall 2023 grant period, the foundation has donated $46,764 through the following programs (Click here for a full list of awardees)

Classroom Mini Grants – $1,300 (6 grants)
School-wide Grants – $10,000 (5 grants)
Jump Start College-readiness Program – $32,223.14

This project is one of the many results of the “Empower Carson City 2017″ Strategic Plan – a five-year strategic plan built by the community for creating extraordinary schools, and now renewed as “Empower Carson City 2022“.
